Notice we have two kits that include everything it takes to make a one-of-a-kind premie or life scale baby doll. The half scale kit with the new hand, arm, leg and foot armatures is by far the easiest to make, I recommend it for the beginning or the professional artists. The life scale is more difficult to make, but will be simple enough for the advanced students. Once you have completed a premie (half scale) doll you may wish to try the life scale. Sculpting Baby Dolls with Pat Moulton

Renowned artist Pat Moulton sculpts the head, hands, and feet of a baby doll and puts together the body and dresses the doll. This hour and thirty minute video was produced by ProSculpt Productions and directed by Jack Johnston. It shows you how to sculpt a life scale baby doll. Similar techniques can be used to sculpt any scale baby, including a miniature.

Life Scale Baby Doll body stocking

This life scale baby doll body is flesh in color and is made of Doe Suede. This body stocking is made to follow the instructions shown in the Pat Moulton DVD. This body is specially designed for 3/4 limb dolls. Once the head, arms and legs are attached to this doll it will be approximately 21 inches long. You may purchase baby clothing off the rack to fit this doll.

Half Scale Baby Doll body stocking (Premie Scale)

Premie or small Newborn-Sized Body This body is specially designed to fit our half scale baby doll kit. The resin hand/arm and foot/leg armatures have a flange made to fit this body exactly. The body is made with bear joints at the shoulders and hips to assure movement of the limbs. The DoeSuede fabric is skin colored and soft to the touch. The limbs attach very simply by pulling the locking tabs. This body is slightly over 5 inches long from the neck to the crotch, and makes a completed baby approximately 11" long.

Half Scale hand/arm and foot/leg armatures

The resin hand/arm and foot/leg armatures were designed specifically for making an authentic baby doll in polymer clay. Notice in the photo that the arms and legs are posable. You may change the pose to fit the doll that you are sculpting. Once the clay is placed on the armature and cured in the oven the limbs becomes fixed. The hand and feet armatures are sold as a set.

Half scale baby doll head armature

The half scale baby doll head armature is designed as the base for sculpting a half scale baby doll. Simply apply ProSculpt clay to the head and sculpt it to the design you desire. You may cure the head in a household oven at 275 degrees for ten minutes. The armature will remain inside the sculpted and cured head. The finished head will be the correct size for the half scale body and armatures.

Life Scale Baby Head Armature

The new baby doll head armature is designed to make a life-scale baby head. The armature has a perfect shape for consistency in each sculpture. It has eye sockets already in place to assure proper alignment. If you cure the head at 275 degrees for 10-15 minutes the new head armature will help to eliminate the problems with cracking. It is designed to attach to a flexible body armature or a soft body. We recommend 20-22mm flat backed glass eyes for this head. This head attached to the life scale body will make a completed baby 21 inches long.

Glass eyes for the half scale baby

We can only recommend glass eyes for polymer heads that are cured in the oven. Glass is the only material that will easily withstand the temperatures required to cure ProSculpt and other polymer clay products. You may use eyes ranging in size from 12-14 mm for the half size baby doll. You may specify the color at check out in the memo section. You may choose from: blue, brown or green eyes. All colors are exceptional. The 12 mm eye is $14.95 and the 14 mm eye is $15.95.

Life Scale Baby eyes

The glass eyes for the life scale baby run from 20 mm to 24 mm. We recommend 22 mm as the correct size for the head armature that we produce. These eyes come in green, blue, or brown, just write the color you desire in the memo section at check out.
